Fitting Guidelines:
We recommend installing your Flat Roof Glass at a gradient of 40mm per 1000mm to ensure effective surface water run-off. A full fitting guide is supplied with all of our roof lights, and our technical team is available by telephone for additional support.
Before installation, your on-site joiner will need to construct a timber kerb upstand measuring 70mm (w) x 150mm (h). The clear internal opening should be set in by 100mm from the external roof light size. For example, if you order a 1000mm x 2000mm roof light, the internal timber dimensions should be set to 800mm x 1800mm.
Each Flat Roof Glass is designed with a 100mm overhang on all four sides to fully cover and protect the top face of the kerb upstand. Your chosen roof covering (EPDM rubber, GRP, or felt) should be applied to the roof and carried up and over the top face of the timber kerb upstand before fitting the roof light.
Once this preparation is complete, apply a continuous bead of high-quality glazing silicone to the top of the kerb upstand. Carefully bed the roof light into the silicone with even pressure, ensuring no air bubbles remain. For additional support, fit a timber batten internally beneath the inner pane as illustrated in the fitting guide.
